Senior Year Update: Second Semester

My activities increased exponentially once school was back in session after winter break. As this is my last semester of high school and I know where I’m going to college, I now have scholarships to apply for, mock trial district and state competitions, although I do have track and field to look forward to at the end of each day.

As of this week, the last week of January, it’s the second official week of the track, the district competition for mock trial is just a few days away, and the senioritis is slowly sinking in. While I’ve been busy, I have been trying to keep up with everything, and not having as much homework this year and the thought I’m almost done both really help. Since I know where I’m going to college and what I will study, I’ve begun the lengthy process of applying for scholarships. Though there’s a lot to do, think about, and memorize, I have track and field practice at the end of each day to look forward to and clear my head.

Having goals keeps me going in my classes, sports, and clubs. Both easy and hard goals are great for anyone to have for extra motivation. As for me, checking off whatever I want to accomplish motivates me to do more. For this semester, some of my goals are to graduate with a 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA), make it to the state competition for mock trial and get the professionalism award, make it to the district meet for track and field, and set up my photography business before I go to college. To make it easier to achieve those, I have little goals that can be accomplished daily rather than over a few weeks or months. Some are to drink at least one full water bottle each day, which is 40 ounces since that’s the water bottle I use daily. Recently, one of my goals has been to memorize my opening statement for a mock trial as the district competition is rapidly approaching.
With 112 days left of high school and 119 days until graduation, I hope to accomplish all my goals and maybe even more.
