2022’s Best Sellers

Some books offer advice on habitual things or how to handle our mental or physical well-being. Other books transport people to different worlds, times, or places. Some people prefer other methods to gain the same knowledge or experience, such as movies, podcasts, or even music.  Others prefer the tangibility of the book, though some people use e-books. Regardless of how you read the books you buy, one thing is for certain, you almost always buy them.  The top 10 Best Sellers stick within a genre, but a couple stand out.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

It Ends With Us is the first novel in a two-part series by Colleen Hoover.  Despite this novel being published in August of 2016, it did end up with the most buys on Amazon in 2022. The novel also achieved a rating of 4.7 stars out of five on Amazon. This romance novel follows a young woman, Lily Bloom, as she falls into a doomed love with a man.  This story touches on a past in an abusive home, the fall into an abusive relationship, and the escape of both.

It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover

It starts with us is the sequel to It Ends With Us. The books were often bought together, so it unsurprisingly made it to second on Amazon’s best sellers.  The book has a rating of 4.5 stars out of five on Amazon.  This novel follows the same young woman, Lily, as she tries to rekindle a teenage romance with a man named Atlas. Lily navigates through a second chance with Atlas while dealing with a jealous ex-husband.

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Verity is another novel by Colleen Hoover, receiving 4.6 stars on Amazon. Published in October of 2021, this is one of Hoover’s newer novels.  This novel tells a thrilling story of a young writer, Lowen Ashleigh, as she discovers a horrid truth after being hired to finish the books of a woman too injured to finish them. As she finds secrets that could cause Verity Crawford to leave his injured wife, Ashleigh must decide whether to keep the unfinished autobiography from Verity, or let her emotions win out and show it to him.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Where the Crawdads Sing has received an incredible rating of 4.8 stars on Amazon.  This book also has a live motion picture adaptation.  The book follows a young girl named Kya Clark as she is introduced into the town of Barkley Cove after spending years alone surviving in the swamps nearby. She must also face the community suspecting her to be the murderer of Chase Andrews when he turns up dead. 

Atomic Habits by James Clear

With 4.8 stars on Amazon, Atomic Habits gives advice on improving your day.  The book provides practical strategies from James Clear, a leading expert on habit formation.  James Clear took complex ideas from biology, phycology, and neuroscience to turn them into a simple guide to make good habits unavoidable.  This book can redefine how you think about success and progress.  This book can be used in preparation for sports games, important interviews, or even when trying to lose weight or stop biting your nails.

Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover

With another one of Hoover’s books receiving an unsurprising 4.7 stars on Amazon, this novel also made it on the list. Reminders of Him follows a young mother, Kenna Rowan, as she desperately tries to find a way back into her daughter’s life after a mistake earned her five years in prison. Eventually, she only has one person with a link to her daughter, but as they grow closer, the risk of them both being shut out of the town only grows.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Hoover’s fifth book on the best-selling list has earned another 4.7 stars on Amazon. Tate Collins and Miles Archer don’t consider themselves friends, let alone anything more, but they do have a mutual attraction.  They strike a deal that could work out fine, as long as two rules are never broken, “Never ask about the past, don’t expect a future,” but as all lovers know, rules are broken, and love gets ugly.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid 

This drama-filled novel has received 4.6 stars on Amazon.  The book tells the story of Evelyn Hugo who chooses Monique Grant, an unknown reporter to write her biography. She tells Monique her story of glamor and scandal, revealing the truth of her life, how she got into showbiz, the seven husbands on the way, and much more. Monique becomes intrigued, and what started as a way to kick-start her career turns into an intersection, changing Monique’s life.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

This classic children’s book has received a whopping 4.9 stars on Amazon. This interactive book is a great way to teach children about counting, days of the week, and more! The caterpillar eats his way through the pages and has eaten his way through time as well. The book has been translated into 20 different languages and has had over 12 million full-length copies sold since its publication.

The Light We Carry by Michelle Obama 

This book was published in late 2022, and has received 4.6 stars on Amazon. Former First Lady, Michelle Obama shares what she knows about staying balanced in an unbalanced world.  She shares her own experiences in hopes to give others the tools they need to deal with the big questions that have no easy answer. She explores many issues, and wants readers to work through their fear, find strength in their community, and connect meaningfully with others.
