Who Can Goku Beat?

By: Thomas Horvath

Son Goku from the Dragon Ball series is often described as unbeatable by many fans of the franchise. But is this true? While Goku does have immense power, there are some superheroes that he cannot beat. Still, he has a good chance against many heroes you wouldn’t expect him to beat. Here are three superheroes that Goku can and cannot beat.

Three: Thor

While Thor from the Marvel franchise is  known for his immense strength, that strength is not as impressive compared to a Super Saiyan. Thor gets most of his power from his hammer, Mjolnir, which only those who are worthy enough can pick up. And when they do, they gain the power of Thor. Goku is one of the most kind-hearted and good-willed characters in all of fiction, so he would be worthy. Goku has everything and more than Thor has, so it doesn’t look good for the God of Thunder.

Two: Shazam

Shazam gets his powers from Solomon (wisdom), Hercules (strength), Atlas (stamina), Zeus (power), Achilles (courage), and Mercury (speed). While this makes him incredibly brave, strong, and smart, it is up in the air if he could beat Goku. This would be an incredibly back-and-forth match, and it would come down to whoever has the highest willpower. It would probably favor Shazam, as he has the wisdom of Solomon, and Goku isn’t exactly known for his smarts.

One: Superman

This might be the most highly debated matchup between comic and manga fans. Unfortunately for manga fans, Superman wins this one. Superman may not even lose to any other character ever. He is the fastest, strongest, and most powerful superhero ever created. Goku is strong, but not this strong. Superman can rewind time, which means that if he’s losing, he can rewind time and beat Goku before he was even powerful. Still, a closer match than most would assume.

Those are characters that I think are interesting matches for Goku. He can beat characters like Spider-Man or Aquaman, but characters with god-like powers are much more difficult for him to beat.
