Over the summer, the world watched as 10,000 athletes took the stage for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Being set in Paris, the city of love, there were bound to be a few romantic moments among the athletes.
In Track and Field, one couple stood out from the rest. That would be the gold-medal couple, Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall. They stole hearts worldwide when Hunter Woodhall won gold in the T62 100-meter dash at the 2024 Paralympics and immediately ran over to his wife, Tara Davis Woodhall, in the stands. About two weeks earlier, Tara scored a gold medal in the women’s long jump and ran over to celebrate with her husband, Hunter.
In the Field portion of Track and Field, specifically the pole vault event, there was a major scene that many put with Taylor Swift’s The Alchemy. As Armand Duplantis has his turn with the bar at 6.25 meters up, he clears it and claims first place along with a gold medal. The very next thing he does is run over to his girlfriend, Desire Inglander, and they embrace with a hug and kiss.
During the 2024 Olympics, Team Czechia’s gold-medal doubles partners gave us a real-life enemies-to-lovers story. The two “exes,” Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Mahac, dated for about 4 years prior but broke up before the Olympics. Though they still played in a doubles match that won them gold, and once they knew they had won, they ended the match with a kiss. Throughout the news, the partners will avoid relationship rumors, though the world will forever want a rom-com based on their story.
In the pool, there was an excitingly sweet moment when the Team USA backstroke swimmer, Ryan Murphy, found out his wife was having a baby girl after he just won bronze. Murphy’s wife held up a cardboard sign saying, “Ryan, it’s a girl!” for him to see after winning his third consecutive Olympic medal.
The great moments have also ended after the Olympics and Paralympics have officially ended. However, there might be some more at the Milano Cortina 2028 Winter Olympics.
