Ellen DeGeneres just announced that the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” will be ending in 2022 after 19 seasons. This came up after the many allegations claiming that the set was a toxic workplace. Last year, three executive producers were ousted after an internal workplace review, Degeneres later released a personal apology to her staff. Despite that, the show has been rapidly declining in viewers, the dropping numbers exceeding almost every other talk show.
“I have to say, if nobody else is saying it, it was really interesting because i’m a woman and it did feel very misogynistic”, DeGeneres exclaimed, “I thought something was going on with that, because it was too orchestrated, it was too coordinated. And, you know, people get picked on but for four months straight for me, and then for me to read in the press about a toxic work environment, when all Ive ever heard from every guest that comes on the show is what a happy atmosphere this is, and how, what a happy place it is.
The 63-year old continued on about how she is devastated about what’s being spread around. She claims she wished someone let her know what was going on sooner because such allegations are “not tolerable”.
“Two years ago, I signed a deal for three more years and I always knew in my heart that season 19 would be my last.” DeGeneres said she got “choked up saying this is the best experience of my life, because it has been.”
