Books: A no longer needed subject?

During school or when people want to grab a book to usually read about a story or something that interests them. However, with the ever-growing digital devices that can have thousands of books on them, many people have begun to question if books will go out and not be needed anymore due to everything now being digitally available at the click of a button. Many schools are also worried because many kids need to read these books to expand their vocabulary and comprehension skills they will need when growing up. Authors are also concerned that all the time and money spent on getting these books produced and published will be simply thrown away in favor of a book that doesn’t need to be kept care of and remember where you put it. All of these problems lean into the problem with this, but they can also be positive.

The problem with this is that many authors and people who want to make books are worried about these efforts going to waste because people are leaning more toward digitally owning these books rather than having a book as a physical copy. An example of this would be a local author of a book wanting to be able to publish the story he has made to the public. Still, people aren’t interested in his book because everyone can get the book online and not see the creator of the book, making the author feel dehumanized and not even feel like it matters if he makes the book. Another example of this would be an author who has recently produced an entire library amount of books he wishes to sell and have people read, which is good; however, no one seems to come to the library to get his books, so he looks onto the internet and finds out someone has put the entire book online meaning people don’t have to either pay and see him so he doesn’t even feel appreciated when he is making the books but also cause he will have a lot of books which will only get dust because no one wants to buy a physical copy of something they already have digitally. These are all bad, but there is a good thing about this: when a book is on the internet, it will be able to spread it around more so that it becomes more noticeable and famous. An example would be a person who has had a book and posted it on the internet. Some people began to spread it to their friends, which they spread to others, which led to the book and the author themselves gaining more notoriety along with being able to be recognized as the author of this book and even potentially being able to show future books, which leads to the person becoming more famous.
