The Uni knot is the best fishing out there. The only knot that can compare to it is the Palomar knot, and possibly the all-bright. But the uni knot is super easy to tie also it can be used for lures, live bait, and trolling. These are just two of the main reasons I always use the uni knot for everything and have achieved amazing results.
To begin with the uni knot has only four simple steps that after doing a couple times you’ll remember it for life.
As you can see it’s easy to tie and at this point you’re wondering how many pounds this knot holds. The answer to that question is not as simple as you might think. It depends on the condition of the line, how many pound lines it is and how good you did the knot. But the basic gist is that it tests 90% to 100% percent of the line’s strength compared to the Palomar knot that had 75%-80% of the lines strength. This is a big difference that you really don’t want to gamble with, especially if you’re a commercial fisherman or charter captain where every fish matters.
Secondly, the uni knot can be used for everything and anything you can think of. You can troll for wahoo with planers, bottom fish for monster sharks, throw a top water lure in the mangroves for snook tarpon, etc. You can literally anything you can do with this knot unlike the Palomar knot, which tends to slip on big bottom rigs for deep dropping. Also, another reason the uni knot is the best is you tie it to everything, which means you can use it to tie a fluorocarbon leader to your main braid line and it will work. This also works for wire leaders as well, even though I’d suggest going through the hook loop twice then starting the loop and rapping.
So these are just some of the reasons the uni knot is the best knot out there for all sorts of fishing. Thanks for reading my article and have a merry Christmas.
