Harvard is a private ivy league school with an acceptance rate of 5.2 percent as of 2021 . Established in 1636, Harvard is the oldest higher education institution in the United States , and is widely regarded in terms of its influence, reputation, and academic pedigree as a leading university in not just the US but also the world. 

2. University of California, Berkeley – In the heart of California one of the most prestigious schools in the U.S. The school colors are blue and yellow. Berkeley’s acceptance rate was higher than both schools listed, at 16.3%. The school is public and offers instate and out of state students.   The school requires a GPA of 3.0 and out of state non residents a 3.4. The school’s policy maintains nothing lower than a C throughout high school. 

3. Stanford University – The academic school is located 35 miles from San Francisco.
